About Me

Hello and welcome! To help us get better acquainted, here is a little bit about me. Keep in mind, I am usually not good at talking about myself, but I am working on it. Hopefully the info below will paint a better picture of who I am.

I am a mom. I have two amazing kids, Nathaniel and Charlotte. They are everything to me.

Nathaniel is such an easygoing baby; always smiling and laughing. This is the complete opposite of his sister. When Charlotte was a baby, no matter how hard we tried to make her laugh she had a constant case of RBF.

Charlotte is sassy and dramatic, but she is also thoughtful, caring and maternal. She makes me laugh all the time.

I can't wait to watch them grow up together and see how their personalities continue to develop. They definitely make life interesting and oh so much fun.

I am a wife. I am married to Geoff,  a self-proclaimed nerd and Legend of Zelda fanatic who brings a smile to my face every day. I think he is hysterical, although most people don’t always get his sense of humor. In fact, it was his sense of humor that won me over. While like most couples, we have our ups and downs, him and I usually have a great time when we are together. He encourages me to be myself: creative and quirky.

I am an animal lover. I love animals, they are my furry children. Right now I am a dog mom to an 12-year-old Labrador retriever, Andrea (yes, I give my animals people names!) and four cats: Luigi, Chester, Eva (a.k.a.little miss), and our foster failure, Terri (short for ‘terrible timing’). All of them are the most tolerant, patient animals ever. Believe me, Charlotte challenges their resolve every single day.

I love to bake. I guess it’s partly due to my love of baked goods and partly my desire to be creative. Decorating sugar cookies and making cupcakes is just so much fun to me (so is the taste testing part!). I love trying new recipes. I am always in charge of desserts whenever I go to a family dinner or event and I usually go overboard for the dessert table at my kids' birthday parties (thanks Pinterest).

I'm a Pinterest addict. I love Pinterest, much to my husband's chagrin. I designed my children's nurseries with its help. Every time I look there I feel like I can do anything (although I am no stranger to Pinterest fails). I am usually pinning sewing projects, baking ideas, and home decoration and improvement ideas. I currently have over 14K pins (I told you I'm addicted). You can look at my personal board if you like, but if you start following me and I take up your entire newsfeed with my pins, don't say I didn't warn you ;-).

I was raised by a single mom. It was just my mom, my grandmother, and my two siblings growing up. I honestly don’t know how my mom did it. I know I was a handful and I was one of THREE. Speaking from experience, I know how hard it is to parent with my husband helping me, let alone by myself. Some of the days that consist of just me and the kids I feel like I am struggling to keep my head above water. I mean, my house ends up looking like a bomb went off and dinner consists of chicken nuggets and frozen veggies. I have no idea how my mom worked and kept three children alive on her own. She is amazing. Single parents are amazing.

I am stubborn. Just ask my mom, she’ll tell you. I have been this way since I was little. This is a trait that my daughter has inherited. It has given me a true appreciation for the patience my mom exhibited during my childhood.  While I know I gave my mom a run for her money, it has served me well in my adult life. Thanks mom for being your patient self.

I love the show Once Upon A Time. Seriously, it’s an addiction. Since having kids I haven’t had much time to sit down and watch many shows, but this is the one show I make time for. I love how the writers twist the stories about fairy tales we think we know all about. I think its so amazing how everything in the past is tied to something currently going on in the story. It’s so fun to watch even though I know I sound dorky admitting it. If you haven’t seen it, watch it.

So that is me and my story in a nutshell. I cannot wait to get to know you and your story, so send me a message and let’s get acquainted.
